The Limewire Sessions!
Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 | Uncategorized | 2 Comments
Sir Gilber Gilmore and I had the pleasure of playing a couple of songs for the Limewire Music Blog last week. The Dutchmaster was very impressed that I took this opportunity to promote the new album by playing two songs that are not on it. Quite impressive if I do say so myself…………..
I also got to do an interview with the lovely and talented Maddy Wyatt where I may or may not have broken the international record for saying “uh” or “um” for the most times within a five minute period. I’ll let you go to their blog if you really want to see THAT!

Once again we’ve pushed it to the last minute….I’m sitting here waiting on the final mixes of the A and B side for this month’s single to be sent over from England….then it’s off to The Engine Room for a bit of mastering and duplication. I’ve just done a final mix on the C side this morning. This is my first experiment in mixing drums…and let’s just say I have a lot of respect for great mixers…..I’ve done all I can do….but hey, that’s what C sides are for!
Once again so much thanks go out to everyone involved who has made this possible!

My first memory of anything musical in my life was continually putting on a 7-inch 45 record of Twist And Shout onto a little toy record player when I was about 4 years old. My best friend Dennis and I used to go wild when it was on. (Funny enough, he too became a musician later in his life). Fast forward a quarter of a century later, and I now own my second record player. I am in love.
Funny enough, I’ve been collecting records off the streets and in flea markets over the past few years….hoping it would send Langhorne a little signal of what I actually wanted, but those signals went unnoticed….until a couple of days ago when she let me open up a certain Christmas present a day early. Unfortunately, the bulk of my records are in Florida, but I’ve got some really good ones up here to tie me over.
…………..
Christmas Eve night was spent with our good friends Jamie and Michael Leonhart and my drummer/guitarist extraordinaire Gilber Gilmore. Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, Thriller, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Deja Vu were just a few of the selections we listened to while cooking and dining and wii-ing away into the night.
I think what surprised me most was how much I loved just the act of putting the needle down onto the spinning record….let alone the joy of listening to an entire album from start to finish…..something that has been lost in this iPod world of ours. Ahhh, the excitement of listening to music again!
………..
As I type, I’m currently listening to side 2 of Double Fantasy….a little distraught by all of these Yoko tracks, but alas, there is no room for skipping to the next John song…..I’m just hearing it the way the artist wanted it to be heard. Like it should be.
P.S. – A big thanks to Stephen Dubner. from The New York Times blog, Freakonomics, for linking to my “Everybody’s Getting Bailed Out (Except For Me)” video! – SEE THE POST HERE!

Episode 014: Good Man (Live at Rockwood Music Hall – 12/22/08)
Today seems like a good day for some live music, so here you go. The following video took place this past Saturday at Rockwood Music Hall. Are you a good man? Hmmm, good question Casey…gooooood question………………………………………….
As you might be able to figure out, this song was inspired by my mother and her passing. This is my third Christmas without her….it will be three years on January 1st, so this time of year has become a bit sad for me. This one goes out to her.
Turn On Your Heartlight…

Let me start off today’s post by saying that anyone who doubts Neil Diamond’s greatness, has clearly NOT turned on his or her heartlight.

I’m playing my last show of 2008 on Saturday at Rockwood Music Hall – 7PM. It’ll be a special show with my drummer, Gilber Gilmore, on guitar and my good friends and monster talents Michael and Jamie Leonhart on everything else. Lots of great acts that night, so you should come out!
IN OTHER NEWS:
*If you haven’t downloaded my free holiday single, you should click here and share it with everyone you know. Did I mention it’s FREE?
**If you know who Phil Ramone is, check out his blog where I was reviewed! How nice!
***If you DON’T know who Phil Ramone is, please leave this site immediately.
*****Singles ’09 – I’ve been busy in various studios getting the ’09 singles ready for your ears….sure we’ve had setbacks, like one of my producers getting kicked out of the country, but it’s nothing we here at Casey Shea can’t handle. The first show/release will be January 23rd at The Living Room. I have lots of fun things planned (i.e. DOMINATION). Please keep it open on your schedule!
******It’s my Mother-in-law’s 60th birthday today, and she’s just flown from sunny Florida in to the wintery mix that is New York City! She and her husband should be here any minute, and she, along with her husband, will be at the show on Saturday, so you should at least show up for her and tell her happy birthday!
Have a great weekend!

Saturday, December 6th – 4PM
Rockwood Music Hall (196 Allen Street, between Houston and Stanton)
FREE!
Yes, you are reading this correctly. I am playing tomorrow (Saturday) at 4PM. Why so early you ask? Apparently, due to the hotel next door, there have been requests to open during the day. So Rockwood, being a bar for the people, by the people, will be open tomorrow starting at 3.
Best thing is that it’s 2 for 1 beer, wine, and well drinks from 3-6! WHATTT!!??? NOTE: There is already talk on the streets about going to Pianos afterwards for some of those tasty crack beverages. You are all invited! In no time at all, we should all be seeing things like that picture above!
In Sagittarian birthday news, December 6th is actually Gilber Gilmore’s birthday! You may know him as my drummer, but tomorrow, in honor of his birth, he will be playing guitar, so watch out…we’re entering uncharted territory! It should be awesome, and if not, well, drink up….
Episode 005: In The Studio With Gilber Gilmore…
Monday, September 22nd, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Meet Gilber Gilmore, my good friend, drummer, fashion designer, and man of 1000 faces.
He has a little recording setup in his place, and we’ve decided: why pay for a great album, when you can make one yourself for free??? We started recording on one of my trips to New York about a month ago…..a few days ago he called me up to tell me his hard drive crashed, and we lost everything. Off to a stellar start!
UPDATE: In honor of National Elephant Appreciation Day, and my personal love for Earth’s largest land animal, I would like to extend an offer to download a free version of my 4 track demo of the song Elephants. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD.
