1 Week Till Highline Ballroom
Thursday, August 12th, 2010 | Uncategorized | 2 Comments
I’m about to head into the studio to continue work on what one man said will be the album that saves rock and roll. I cannot confirm or deny these reports just yet, but upon first listen to some rough mixes, resident critic, Langhorne Shea, went so far as to say, “it’s not terrible.” As you should know by now, this is pretty high praise coming from one of the hardest to please women in the world. Maybe Mr. Dunn is right.
In Oh God, Please Don’t Let Us Play To An Empty Room Next Week News: I’d like for you to take a moment out of your day and consider coming to Highline Ballroom next Thursday, August 19th.
I have the extremely envious position of starting out the night…the highly coveted 8pm slot!! It’s a huge room, the sound is amazing, the lights are incredible….it’s all around awesome…but without you, the word disaster comes to mind.

Love Is Here To Stay Cracks The Top 100!
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 | Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Sure it’s my personal Top 100 Favorite Albums Of All Time list, and sure, it didn’t actually make the top 100, but we’ve all got to start somewhere.
Apparently a new study has shown that I’m what a lot of people in the business call a “music snob,” which translates into, “I hate everything.” Everything but The Beatles that is…and whoops, last I checked, they’re the greatest band of all time, so the point is, I know how to pick a winner….and trust me folks, “Love Is Here To Stay” is a winner. So take it from me…no….BUY IT FROM ME…it’s only $4.99! Or at least steal it from one of your friends who has already supported the cause. Or hell, send me an email, and odds are, I’ll send it to you for free.
……..
In Other Really Good Deal News: This Thursday, July 29th (tomorrow) we’re running a great special on tickets for our big Highline Ballroom show on August 19th with the lovely Ms. Paula Valstein and Mr. Jonah Smith.

Free Music Alert! MERRY CHRISTMAS! HAPPY HANUKKAH! Or anything else you may celebrate!!!
DOWNLOAD SINGLE – ABCs, Volume 8 – “An ABCs Christmas”
side a – The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late) (Me feat. Langhorne!)
side b – You’re All I Want For Christmas
side c – Fairytale Of New York (Paula Valstein feat. Me!)

Sides a and c were recorded especially for “A Holiday Benefit, Vol. 3.”
“A Holiday Benefit” is an annual compilation album and concert featuring New York City singer/songwriters benefiting 826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills.
Proceeds from the first two volumes made meaningful contributions to 826NYC. We intend to outdo ourselves this year, but we can’t do so without your help. Bring yourself, bring your friends, bring your friends’ friends!
This year’s compilation also features new recordings from Bess Rogers, Chris Cubeta, Emily Easterly, Andy Mac, Martin Rivas, Ruby Rivers, Amber Rubarth, Chris Abad, Bryan Dunn, Benjamin Wagner and Emily Zuzik, plus album art by Emily Raw!
I’m giving my tracks out in hopes that you will purchase the album or come to the show, where you will get a copy with the price of admission!
If you can’t make the concert, you can pre-order now at http://www.aholidaybenefit.org, or download it on iTunes subsequent to the show.

Music And Life…
Friday, August 28th, 2009 | Uncategorized | 2 Comments
The video below has me thinking, and I’d venture to say it might have you doing the same…
Now sure, I’m certainly living a more unconventional life than most, following a dream and not holed up in a cube….but still, I find myself searching for some sort of success…..to reach something or somewhere….always looking towards that next goal, that next big show. (like tonight’s with Jesse Lynn and Paula Valstein at The Highline Ballroom – Doors at 6, Concert at 7!) Then the show comes, and the show goes, and I start the cycle over again. Searching…
Funny thing is, the shows are usually the least enjoyable….they fly by and leave me empty, and they’re never as perfect as I want them to be. But as this video says, the big show is just an end point to the composition….it’s not the point of the composition. It’s not as fun as the rehearsals, not as satisfying as actually writing and finishing a song, and certainly not as beautiful as all the daily life in between that too often I’m taking for granted….all that in between….that’s the good stuff, that’s what the composition is about….now if I can just always remember that!

The Seven Day Countdown To Highline!
Friday, August 21st, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments
That’s right…in exactly one week, we’ll be making our Highline Ballroom debut. It’s a big place, but our good friend Paula has quite a big following, so if you’re planning on coming, get your tickets now here!
Speaking of getting tickets early, I bet elytSaruaG, John and Arsento (whose comments somehow went into my spam folder (see below)) already have theirs. Now I can’t read what elytSaruaG is saying, but I’m just gonna assume it’s something along the lines of John and Arsento’s comments, who have BOTH added my blog to their bookmarks, AND said they’re gonna read more often!!
Hell yeah! We’re finally getting somewhere with this blog…reaching more and more and more people….the big time is right around the corner now….I can taste it…
The only bad thing is that means 3 less seats for you other dedicated readers….so if I were you, I’d get on it…like now…

2 Weeks To Highline!
Friday, August 14th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments
The Highline Piano Series is almost upon us, that’s right, I said Piano Series!
Now you may be asking yourself, what is a band with 3 guitars doing playing such an event? Well, to be honest, I’m not 100% sure. However, what I DO know, is that we get to take the stage at another of Manhattan’s best venues, The Highline Ballroom. Another thing I know is one of New York’s most gifted vocalists, the lovely Paula Valstein, will be playing right after us.
Paula was one of the first people I met when I moved to New York…we played all the same open mics together, so it’s pretty cool to get to share a bill at a proper ballroom almost six years later! Amazing!
So, like I said, two weeks and counting…..Friday, August 28th to be exact. Tickets in advance are only $10….$12 day of. So get your tickets early, I promise it will be well worth it!
