MTV Buzzworthy - Tally Hall + Casey Shea = Flo Rida
July 19th, 2011

Yesterday, our cover of Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me" was deemed buzzworthy by the kind folks at MTV.

I mean I know I'm biased, but I have to agree with them.

In The Studio With Casey Shea!
July 5th, 2011

The ad wizards at Casey Shea Inc. have decided it would be a good idea to make a promotional video for the new album, "In Your Head" (coming soon) featuring a song NOT on said album.

I'm not quite sure what Seth Godin would have to say about this, but I can't imagine he'd be too impressed with our strategy. Or maybe we're just thinking so outside the box that people like Seth can't even comprehend the genius behind it.

Oh well, you be the judge....

I Am Now Tumblr-ing!
April 11th, 2011

Well, once again I have joined yet another social media site in an effort to make my life...easier??

Yes, I am now a Tumblr-er, and I've got to say, I like it. My blog however probably feels differently. It has now gone from the baby to the unwanted middle child.

I can see it in it's eyes...it feels left out now. Last time I stopped by, it was listening to Marilyn Manson and looked like something out of a Hot Topic catalog. It was a tough visit.

I tried to tell it that Daddy loves all of his social networks the same, but when it asked, "even MySpace?" Well, I just didn't know what to say. Yes, this transition is going to be hard on the whole family.

Beatles, Buttons, and More!
March 15th, 2011

This week we're heading back into the studio to record a couple of new songs for the new album we hoped would be out by now. However, I'm really excited about these new songs, and I'm pretty sure they are just what this album needs to go 80X platinum!

...............

On Covering A Beatles Classic

A couple of weeks ago, I met up with producer extraordinaire, Roger Greenawalt, to cover a Beatles song. Roger plays ukulele (among other things) and a little while back, he set out on an adventure to cover every Beatles song ever written with said uke. He is clearly my kind of guy.

Luckily for me, one of the best songs EVER written had not been attacked yet. So we walked out into the rain and onto the corner of 27th and 6th with a ukulele and an iPad and recorded The Beatles classic, "Something" for a few random bystanders.

Take a listen to our take here, and be sure to read Roger's essay on the song itself...it's a classic.

...............

On Writing An Article For Another Website

The kind folks over at NYC Art Scene recently asked me to write an article addressed to all new comers to the music scene. After writing a long, detailed description of how to get to Pianos from any subway line and have a good time for under $10, I figured I should probably try to make it a bit more music centric.

You can read the article here!

...............

On Finally Having Buttons!

I'm pleased to announce we finally have buttons for sale. The come in a pack of two for the low price of $1.00. The two-pack contains both "Love Is Here To Stay" and "Midnight Sky" 1 inch buttons. They'll go great with that smile of yours.

T-Shirts Are Now Available!
November 11th, 2010

Well the time has finally come, and like most things that I put a deadline on, only a few months late.

I'm really excited about these t-shirts...this was design idea #5 after Langs told me no one would ever wear design ideas #1 - #4. Whether she was right or wrong, it did at least lead us to this design based off the glow in the dark stars on our bedroom wall and my love of Shel Silverstein and The Little Prince.

Big thanks to Carolyn Wachnicki of redheadcanvas for bringing the vision to life.

If you're a fan of awesome t-shirts like I am, buy one now for the low price of $11.99...for 14.99, the shirt comes with a download of "Love Is Here To Stay."

PS...They're super soft and comfortable!

$14.99 - Shirt + Album

$11.99 - Shirt Only

"Good Man" Featured On "One Tree Hill!"
October 1st, 2010

If you happened to find yourself tuning into the drama this past Tuesday on The CW, you may have heard my song "Good Man" playing during a very intense scene on One Tree Hill.

It's always cool to see how a song is used on TV, and though this particular song really doesn't have anything to do with basketball players or kidney transplants, it does work really well in the scene!

Watch it HERE!

(Note: If you don't want to watch the whole show, fast forward to about 12:30 in!)

Love Is Here To Stay Now Available On iTunes!
September 14th, 2010

I'm happy to announce that as of today, you can buy "Love Is Here To Stay" for twice the price on iTunes! That's right folks, why buy it directly from my site for $4.99, when you could have it for $9.99 and help Steve Jobs afford that new iPhone he's been dying to get his hands on!!??

Check it out here on iTunes!

Of course iTunes does have that option to leave a glowing review....and if I could be honest for a moment, there's nothing that makes me feel better than someone leaving me a glowing review. I mean the music industry has a way of beating you up and making you feel worthless, but when musicluver88 says something like, "Casey Shea is THE GREATEST artist in the world, and there's no way I could possibly get through the day without his songs," it makes me feel really good about myself. Of course it should be noted that musicluver88 does not exist and has never written that, but boy, if he or she did, it would really make my day!

So if you still have some money left on that iTunes gift card you got last year for your birthday, why not log in, buy the album, and leave me a review!

Interview + Live Songs With Limewire!
September 2nd, 2010

Sir Gilber Gilmore and I had the pleasure of playing a couple of songs for the Limewire Music Blog last week. The Dutchmaster was very impressed that I took this opportunity to promote the new album by playing two songs that are not on it. Quite impressive if I do say so myself!

I also got to do an interview with the lovely and talented Maddy Wyatt where I broke the international record for saying "uh" or "um" for the most times within a five minute period.

"Wave Of Walls" On "The Gates" On ABC!
July 19th, 2010

We just recieved word that "Wave Of Walls" got a bit of airtime on the ABC drama, "The Gates." That's the good news, the bad news is we found out today and the show aired last night!?? I only wish the fine folks at ABC would have let me know beforehand, so I could've spread the word and watched the moment in real time myself. Had it not been for some good friends who watch shows about vampires, I may have never known.

Luckily, we live in the age of Hulu...watch the episode below, and if you're not into werewolves and vampires and such, just skip right ahead to minute 34 to hear the song! Or just buy the album and listen to the whole song!

It's official...at least one person on Earth likes my new album! The fine folks at absolutepunk.net recently reviewed "Love Is Here To Stay," and they gave it some high praise. Awesome!

They also described me as a "gregarious, raven-haired Brooklynite." DOUBLE AWESOME!

"Mr. Rogers And Me"
June 18th, 2010

I'm very honored to have two songs off "Love Is Here To Stay" (The title track and "The World Is Waking Up!") in the new documentary, "Mr. Rogers And Me." As you may have guessed, the documentary is about everyone's favorite neighbor, Mr. Rogers, and features interviews by the late Tim Russert, Susan Stamburg, Marc Brown and many more. The movie premieres tonight at The Nantucket Film Festival, and I'm here to witness it!

My good friend Ben Wagner and his brother Chris have been working on this for years, and I'm quite excited as a friend and huge Mr. Rogers fan to finally see the finished product! Ben first met "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" creator and star, Fred Rogers, at Rogers' summer home on Nantucket, Massachusetts. His mother rented the cottage next door, so Mister Rogers really was his neighbor.

On the afternoon of their first meeting, "America's Favorite Neighbor" asked the young journalist about his job as an MTV News producer. Wagner felt exposed and embarrassed, a PBS mind in a jump-cut, sound-bit MTV world.

Mister Rogers said warmly, "I feel so strongly that deep and simple is far more essential than shallow and complex."

Later, Rogers said simply, "Spread the message, Benjamin." I think it's safe to say Ben is doing his part. Check out the trailer below!

It's a little video of me covering of Aqualung's, "Brighter Than Sunshine." Watch and VOTE FOR IT HERE!
